The Project
Create a logo called 'XD Studio' for User Experience Design Studio, Bangalore. The tone of the logo is 'Excellence in Design'.
Concept
Done some research on studio designs and other arts to get inspiration. I wanted to make the logo by folloing below 3 elements.
Based on research findings, I drew a symbol (monogram) which represent the words ‘Excellent’ and ‘Perfect’.
Monogram: The characters ‘X’ & ‘D’ have been designed with a great influence of the geometric sans-serifs typefaces like Open Sans, Lato and Segoe UI, whose characters are unique, attractive & look trendy all times.
Logotype: Segoe UI Regular is the typeface that is used for the logotype in order to maintain visual consistency with monogram 'X' & 'D'. The characters of the logotype had undergone very negligible tweaks, in particular at the ascenders for a better look & feel.
Orange: It combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the creativity. It represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, attraction,determination, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
Blue: It symbolizes trust, loyalty, knowledge, intelligence, confidence, faith, depth and stability. It is suggested to use when promoting high-tech products.
Lessons Learned
My aim was to create a simple, memorable and impactful logo. I did hours of research on symbols, shapes, colors and typefaces. Learnt many things like finding right symbols, usage of colors, customize the typeface, preference for web and print, etc. Now I can proudly say that the logo somehow conveys the message 'Excellence in Design'.
